Yay Free Wifi!

So at this moment in time I'm doing some weekend traveling, and I've finally come to terms with how awesome free Wifi really is. Now I can sit here on a bus, and update the site, AND play Pokemon FireRed (which I found sitting in my laptop bag to my suprise) all at once!

Not much going on for news this weekend. I posted a sketch I did of Altair from Assassin's Creed, but that's about it. I'm officially in love with Prismacolor markers (I don't know how any college student can afford Copics!), and trying to learn the new medium with a very limited color palette. And when I say limited, I mean 12 colors. And when I say 12 colors, I mean six really neutral grays and six vibrant girly colors. I'll work on that, though. Just gotta save up!

What else... Probably playing Vandal Hearts later today or tomorrow. And working on some ways to color stuff in Photoshop, which I really need to practice more.

Anyways, back to Viridian City!

Onyx Used Bide

"Oh my god. You don't even know what just happened. Onyx killed my Charmander. You know that move Bide? Well, yeah, I couldn't move and he killed him. And I was left with a level 2 Nidoran♀?!"

This is the conversation I just walked into. And now I feel like I'm finally home in college.

After mentioning the release of HeartGold and SoulSilver to my roommate, we began to reminisce of the days when there were only 150 monsters to catch, one of the last times she played Pokemon. She played Silver, but once the battery in her cartridge died she never went back to the series.

But that isn't to say she doesn't have fond memories of it. When I moved in with her, I spent my first day neatly organizing my Pokemon plush, only to be followed by hanging a poster of Ash and Pikachu above my bed. The first look is always a strange one from most people, but it provided a perfect conversation starter with the stranger that I would be living with for the next year. Right away she went to her desk and grabbed a small Metapod figurine and held it out for me to see. We laughed over the fact that it's a weird object to display, but at least we were bonding already. While she isn't quite the gamer (she mistakenly referred to Pewter City as "Boulder Town"...), she's one of the only girls I have met here that acknowledges Pokemon as something more than "Oh! You mean that cute yellow mouse thing?!" Regardless, I was happy to hear about her adventures in Boulder Town, as she went back to Brock to once again fight for the "Rock Badge".

While most will say that they dismiss Pokemon with age, no one ever does. To erase all of the hours we spent catching Pidgeys and evolving Charmanders would be the equivalent to forgetting time spent with friends. Now, I have someone here to anticipate HeartGold and SoulSilver with when it comes out in March. She just better not ask me for my DS because she's buying her own.

Wow...

It's been quite a while since I last posted anything on this blog. Actually, it has been almost a year...

Anyways, big news here: POWRDUP is actually up and running! This was no small feat may I add, being new to coding entirely and doing it all by myself (if you ever find a bug on the site, email me please!). I'm working on a few new features for it, which you'll have to check out later so stick around! And, don't expect it to be fully functional in IE yet, since coding for IE may be the most annoying process in the world. But it will get there. Keep an eye out for what we are really about it out for new game announcements, our reviews, etc. POWRDUP isn't really a news site, so don't expect the filler news that is seen on a lot of blogs out there. We have the important stuff, like PICHU WITH A UKULELE! :)

Also, one feature that I am especially excited for is the art section. This is where a lot of my random drawings will go, and I hope you guys like them as much as I like drawing it. I'm totally up for critiquing if you like/dislike something! I'll try to keep the art section updated so that you see new stuff as often as I can make it. I may also post other unrelated art on here. Who knows.

Enough about me. Check out POWRDUP!
